I’m a wildlife photographer; most of my photos are of deer and birds. My husband, Jimmy and I live in Kentucky, in a log cabin out in the woods. The photos in this book were taken on our land. Jimmy helps me find the deer so that I can take their picture. I want to share with other people pictures of the deer family, to show how kind and loving they are to their loved ones. They hug their children (fawn) with their neck and face. The doe gives them lots of kisses with her tongue.
Over the years, I have had many people to tell me that I need to put out a book using my pictures. A good friend of ours, Bill Leffler saw my deer family pictures a while back; his response was, “these would make a wonderful children’s book.” Then he said that he would be glad to help me get started. When I started writing, I would look at a photo of a deer; study it, and think, what is this picture telling me? One picture at a time is how this book came to be.
