BIRDS & Blooms extra magazine May 2017
Birds & Blooms magazine , May 2017 I put my picture of a Downy woodpecker, female with some information about how I got that picture. Here is what I wrote;
My Nikon D 7000 really came in handy the day I spotted a female downy woodpecker on an old log next to some flowers. I didn't have to move closer and risk scaring her off because I had my long lens with me. I focused on the bird, and as I clicked the camera the downy opened her wings to fly off. I was so lucky to capture this beautiful moment.
Below is a picture of the page in the magazine. The next photo is of the downy that I send in to the magazine.

Letter from the Great Backyard Bird Count
Photo Contest
Dear Ella,
I’m delighted to inform you that you are a winner in the 2015 Great Backyard Bird Count photo contest! Your photo of two sparring Northern Cardinals took fifth place in the Behavior category. In addition to that, you also received Behavior category in the same category for your two Blue Jays—also seemingly in a bit of conflict!
We received about 5,000 images for the contest, so capturing two of the top spots is truly an achievement. Thank you so much for participating. We all look forward to what you might have for us during the 2016 GBBC, coming up February 12
All the best, Pat
